So I upgraded my PS3s hard drive from 120GB to 500GB. At first I was having a hard time, but it wasnt because I was doing something wrong. After I figured out the issue, it was very simple and straight-forward.
I was able to buy a hard drive for $70 shipped from NewEgg.com.
If interested in doing the same, let me know and I'll write up some instructions.

So the only issue I ran into last night with the 500GB HD upgrade is that the Backup Utility feature on the PS3 is useless. I made a backup of my data from the original hard drive before upgrading. Now that the 500GB is set, I'm not able to restore the backup to the new drive.
It keeps failing every time I try to restore. So I gave up on the restore and kicked off the downloads of all the DLCs and PSN games I own. As for the saves, I will need to place the old drive back in and copy them to a thumb drive instead of using the Backup Utility.
Other than that little hiccup, replacing the drive was a breeze.

Been thinking of upgrading mine as well. Not so keen on the idea hearing about the back-up utility.

Been thinking of upgrading mine as well. Not so keen on the idea hearing about the back-up utility. but if you dont have much saves or saves that you dont care for, then you can copy whatever you do have manually to a thumb drive, upgrade the drive, setup the PS3 again, and then copy everything back over. As for the DLCs, I kicked off all of them this morning and hopefully they are done by the time I get home. Sounds like a big hassle but not much though. Real nice to have all that extra space though.
